Today we woke up to eight inches of snow. It kept snowing, so I went on an early morning walk after my daughter left for school. It was so peaceful to be alone standing on a bridge over a big river with the snow falling. I must have stood there for twenty minutes watching the snow falling off from the weighed-down branches then melting in the river. Sometimes snow would sift down from the trees into the water like powdered sugar falling in slow motion. I couldn't figure out exactly where it fell from, but it was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. I started getting cold so I headed for home. I wish I could have stayed all day. It was so quiet and so beautiful.
On the trail home next to the river I couldn't help making six or more snow angels, and lying down under a pine tree to stare up through the branches. I was part way home and remembered I had my phone so I trekked back and took some pictures so I could remember this day.
This was just what I needed today.
