Whenever I need a little lift or encouragement, I listen to my favorite music, "Consider the Lilies", by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. It is the CD that I have played more than any other music in my vast collection.
The CD contains a collection of extraordinary, powerful, touching songs, each sung by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, with otherworldly orchestral arrangements. Each song's theme is about our Savior, Jesus Christ. The lyrics are inspiring and uplifting ~ not sappy or sentimental in any way.
I include it on my computer's "Sabbath Day Playlist" ~ a selection of religious music I compiled on iTunes. I play it in the house all day every Sunday to set a peaceful tone in our home. The CD is in my car and I listen to it a few times each week. I know that music is a very personal thing, but I'v never met a person (no matter their taste in music) who hasn't been greatly touched by this music ~ and I've given this CD as a gift to dozens of people.
Being a musician, I've run across, and participated in, a lot of extraordinary music over the years. Very good music helps me feel closer to God than almost any other thing in my life. When I need hope in my life, feeling closer to God is the best place to be. This music is hands-down my music of choice to fill me with HOPE. It reminds me over and over again that I can bear all things, because Christ has already borne my sorrows, and He gives me all of the strength, healing and love that I am willing to receive.
