This may sound silly, but if that is the case, just concentrate on the feeling of your breath going in and out through your nose. You will notice a cool temperature when you breathe in. If your mind wanders, bring your mind back and focus your thoughts on that cool spot under your nose.
Count each time you breathe in if that helps to keep bringing your mind back to your breathing. When you are thinking about your breath, you can't think about your worries. It is a GREAT "vacation". You can take this vacation as many times a day as you need.
Pretty soon you are going to notice that you feel a little (or a lot) more calm ~ a little more peaceful. Then, you may be able to remember, again, the source of all peace and feel inclined toward the gentle, spiritual things that are a part of your foundation.
