A couple of years ago a friend sent me a card with these encouraging words, "You are needed--whether it is performing, mothering, or on the sofa--you are important to many. Do your best and feel good about it."
I'd seen her a few weeks earlier and she knew I'd been virtually homebound for months. I'd told her how useless I felt as a mother, wife and friend. I told her how painful it was to realize that life continued to go on around me whether I was there or not. Her encouragement helped me to see that family and friends still needed me, even when I wasn't fully available for them.
I also realized that even though life does continue to go on with or without us, life is definitely better because we are a part of it. Also, our family and friends are SO HAPPY for every little bit of progress we make. And remember, there are more people hoping for your success and praying for you than you'll ever know. We are important. We are needed. DO YOUR BEST AND FEEL GOOD ABOUT IT.
