I somehow learned of Dick and Rick Hoyt one day when I was virtually homebound for 7 months. That was a couple of years ago. When I watched their story on YouTube I just wept and wept (See YouTube video of Rick and Dick's story). It was through their story that I learned about EagleEyes Project, which is a technology Rick worked on at Boston College, after graduating from Boston University. (There's a recent post about EagleEyes on this site!) Dick and Rick Hoyt participate in marathons, and Ironman triathalons: they run, bike and swim together. However, Rick cannot use his arms or legs, so he races together with his dad in specially equipped wheelchairs, bike chairs, and boats that his dad pushes, pedals or pulls. (See a more detailed YouTube video of their story)
I just want to thank Rick and Dick Hoyt for helping me get through a very rough time. Just knowing that they were surmounting what some people would consider obstacles inspired me more than they'll ever know. Thanks, guys.
